Marrying the band’s trademark countrypolitain wry humor and homespun heart-on-their sleeve sentimentality with their love of classic southern songwriting and playing, Seasonal Affective Disorder is equal parts the Christmas record for people who have a hard time at Christmas, and the holiday record for people of any faith (including ye of little faith) who’ll want to play it year ‘round.

The album also contains two new original songs. Shepherds In A Parking Lot is a gentle carol for anyone struggling with the holiday season, written by band leaders Michael Cerveris and Kimberly Kaye. And Don’t Make Your Mama Cry On Christmas Day, a hopefully-soon-to-be new Cajun Christmas classic, written and recorded with Louis and Andre Michot of the Grammy-nominated Lost Bayou Ramblers, who also contributed music for the Oscar and Grammy-nominated Beasts Of The Southern Wild.

Other guests include one of New Orleans’ premier piano players, Tom McDermott, The Levee Horns (led by Bonerama’s Mark Mullins), Rod Hodges (Iguanas), Jon Graboff (Ryan Adams, Shooter Jennings), Carmella Ramsey (Patty Loveless, Reba McEntire), Justin Smith (Defibrulators), Joe McGinty (Losers Lounge, Psychedelic Furs), Alex Harvey (Jazz Assassins), Gabriel Caplan (Naomi Shelton), and Bennett Sullivan (Steve Martin’s Bright Star).
